V-Ray is a rendering plug-in that enables Rhinoceros users in all fields, from engineering and architecture to design and animation, to take advantage of the power of the Chaos Group’s V-Ray rendering solution.

With V-Ray for Rhino, ASGVIS offers visualisation professionals a state-of-the-art solution that generates high-quality images of unparalleled realism. Top studios in all disciplines have relied on V-Ray for years to generate photorealistic images of outstanding quality. With V-Ray for Rhino, ASGVIS brings a powerful, flexible, and affordable rendering solution to Rhinoceros users, enabling them to take full advantage of all that V-Ray has to offer.

Features

V-Ray offers Rhinoceros users a robust set of global illumination and ray-tracing features that enable them to bring their ideas to life quickly, easily, and cost-effectively. Some of the software’s features include:

  • True raytraced reflections and refractions
  • Separate Global Reflection and Refraction
  • Glossy reflections and refractions
  • Per Material Reflection, Refraction, Global Illumination, and Background
  • Indirect Illumination (global illumination, global lighting). Different approaches include direct computation (brute force), and irradiance maps.
  • Caustics
  • Area shadows (soft shadows). Includes box and sphere emitters
  • True HDRI support. Includes support of proper texture coordinate handling for both cubic and angular maps. Map your images directly without distortions or cropping.
Antialiasing. Includes fixed, simple 2-level and adaptive approaches.
  • Reusable irradiance maps (save and load support). Incremental sampling for fly-through animations.
    3D Displacement
  • V-Ray Material Editor with Material Preview
  • V-Ray Two-Sided Material for easy creation of thin translucency
  • Dispersive Materials are now possible
  • V-Ray Sun and Sky
  • V-Ray Physical Camera
  • Depth-Of-Field camera effect
  • Easy Gamma Correction Controls
  • Fully multithreaded raytracing engine
  • Distributed Rendering which allows a single image to be rendered across a maximum of 10 machines per license.
  • Animation Support for Bongo as well as Rhino's built in animation tools
  • Expanded Functionality including the ability to set Memory Usage limits
  • Improved Viewport Display
  • More efficient memory utilization for handling larger Rhino scenes.

Legacy Features Include:

  • Biased and non-biased global illumination rendering capability with multiple methods of calculation, including Indirect Illumination, Quasi Monte Carlo, Irradiance Mapping, Photo Mapping, and Light Cache Path Tracing.
  • Unprecedented rendering speeds with no loss of quality. The use of reusable irradiance, photon, and light cache maps affords higher-resolution rendering in a fraction of the rendering times of competing rendering engines.
  • Physically based materials and lighting, which give users the ability to render top-quality, photorealistic images, regardless of complexity.

What you get

V-Ray for Rhino will ship with an expanded collection of rendering options and comprehensive materials library. Additionally, ASGVIS will soon launch an online database of rendering options and materials created by V-Ray for Rhino users, available at http://www.asgvis.com.
